FAQs

What is the aim of the Industrial Placement programme?

Our Industrial Placement programme is aimed at enabling candidates to develop their behavioural and technical competence, to support them in their pursuit of professional accreditation and to provide them with an exceptional foundation for their career. The provision of appropriate training and development will provide a prospective graduate to drive and dictate their own career path with the Company's support.

How can I apply?

For Chemical Engineers who wish to apply for the Industrial Placement Scheme, please email a copy of your CV to sarah.hadfield@sellafieldsites.com by 1600 on Friday 22nd October 2010. After this deadline, no further applications will be accepted for this discipline. We will be carrying out interviews either at your department or over the telephone in November.

Where will I be based?

Industrial Placement students will be based at either the Sellafield or Risley sites. Candidates will be offered help in finding temporary and permanent accommodation.

What kind of benefits can I expect?

Students will receive £14,000 per annum (this is pro-rated for summer students). They also have an annual leave entitlement of 2 days per month of service, and special leave is granted for any university examinations.

What kind of support will I receive?

We’ve got a thriving graduate community and students will be very much welcomed into that. You will also receive extensive support from your line manager, senior co-ordinator and fellow students.

Where should I live?

If you are new to the area we will give you all the contacts you need to find accommodation, and you will be able to get in touch with current graduates who will be able to recommend a place to live that offers all you’re looking for.

What kind of work will I be doing?

There is a huge variety of work to be undertaken with Sellafield Ltd.

The vacancies for positions at our Risley office are mainly in the field of engineering design and delivery while vacancies at our Sellafield site are mostly in operational support roles in specific plants on the site.
