I have spent two years at Loughborough University studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering and have completed my second summer placement at Sellafield Ltd. In my first summer, I was based in Site Services where I gained a good knowledge of the electrical infrastructure on the Sellafield site.
For my second placement, I have been placed on a project assisting in the design of a new intermediate level waste store. This placement has been very interesting and enjoyable with plenty of opportunity to get out of the office and visit plant and construction sites.
My placement has given me a real insight into life after university and the sort of work I would be likely to be doing with my degree. The work at Sellafield is particularly interesting as it provides unique ‘world’s first’ challenges and I would recommend a year or summer placement at Sellafield to anyone.
