102 tonne shield door is loaded into place on EPS3 project
A major milestone in the construction of the Encapsulation Product Store 3 (EPS3) was achieved at Sellafield recently when a 600 tonnes crawler crane was used to lift the 102 tonnes shield door into the plant.

Decommissioning of Primary Separation Plant continues
Comprising over 100 tonnes of steelwork, brick and concrete, six instrument bulges historically used to extract process liquor for analysis in Sellafield’s primary separation plant have been removed from the facility and the waste treated accordingly, ahead of the planned schedule.

The programme of returning solid Highly Active Waste (HAW) from Sellafield to overseas customers will commence shortly. In the near future we will announce the name of the vessel, the departure port, the departure date, the route and the approximate time of arrival.

Uranium sent to Russia
Sellafield Ltd has exported a shipment of reprocessed uranium to Russia for processing to allow its manufacture into new fuel. The uranium is owned by European reprocessing customers in Germany and the Netherlands and is the eighth such shipment of material from Thorp.
