Return of Highly Active Waste – the journey begins

CIPS Council Appointment

A member of Council is the latest accolade to be given to Sellafield Ltd’s Robert Astall, Head of Procurement Profession by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS). Robert as a member of the senior governing body of CIPS, its council, will be involved in establishing and developing the corporate strategy for the Institute, they are collectively the trustees of CIPS.>

A major milestone was reached at Sellafield last night with the production of the 5000th container of high level solid waste being completed in the site’s vitrification plant.

Evaporator B return to service

Evaporator B is in the process of being returned to service to support reprocessing on the Sellafield site, as a result of the successful completion of detailed technical investigations. There was no impact on Thorp or other reprocessing activities on the site while Evaporator B was undergoing investigation following a temporary shutdown.

Engineering support radiates success

An undergraduate working on a project supported by Sellafield Ltd has won a prize for the quality of his work. Engineering Design Capability’s CAE Centre of Expertise has supported the successful final year degree project at Manchester University which focused on providing a range of guidance documentation on a technique known as Lasergrammetry.

New Managing Director of Sellafield Ltd

A joint statement was issued today by Nuclear Management Partners (NMP). Sellafield Ltd and the NDA announcing that William (Bill) Poulson has been appointed Managing Director and Chairman of the Sellafield Site Licence Company. Bill will replace Bob Pedde, the current Managing Director, who has reluctantly stepped down from his position because of a family health issue.
