Reprocessed uranium is successfully shipped to Russia
In the last few weeks Sellafield Ltd has exported a shipment of reprocessed uranium to Russia for processing to allow its manufacture into new fuel. The uranium is owned by a German reprocessing customer and this is the ninth such shipment of material from Thorp.

Sellafield Ltd and International Nuclear Services, working in partnership, have completed the shipment of solid highly active waste to The Netherlands, therefore completing the return of all Dutch HAW from the UK. This fulfils contractual obligations and also UK Government policy by returning the waste to the country that benefited from the reprocessed fuel from which the waste originated.
