Weather Updates
Friday 8th January 2010Weather conditions - update advice Friday 8 January 2010
Work to clear snow and to grit the car park at Hinton House, Risley has proved successful and by Friday morning 8 January 2010, approximately 800 parking spaces were available in the car park. This enabled a phased return to work of employees based at the site.
Work is continuing to clear and grit the remaining area of the car park and will continue into Saturday. It is anticipated that all areas of the car park will be cleared and gritted except for the upper level of the multi storey car park. The additional Sellafield Ltd spaces at URS Washington will also be cleared and gritted and will be available.
It is anticipated that the Risley site will be ‘open for business’ as normal on Monday 11 January 2010.
All employees (permanent staff and agency or contract supplied workers) based at the Risley site should therefore return to work on Monday 11 January 2010.
However, employees should continue to check local forecasts both on Sunday evening and Monday morning to monitor deteriorating weather conditions.
Individuals should continue to consider their own safety in travelling to and from the Risley site, also noting that local roads may remain in a poor state. Extra care should therefore be exercised when approaching the site.
Whilst every effort is being made to clear snow and ice, personnel should continue exercise care when moving from the car park to the office. The use of appropriate footwear is also advised.
Our Capenhurst site remains ‘open for business’ and employees are asked to return to work on Monday 11 January 2010 - again ensuring that they take extra care on the roads and when moving from the car park to the office.
At Sellafield, safe operations are continuing and employees are asked to attend work as normal, on Monday 11 January 2010.
Sellafield Ltd also continues to advise its employees not to travel between the Sellafield, Risley and Capenhurst sites unless absolutely necessary and safe to do so. Employees are also reminded to follow and complete the appropriate risk assessment.
A further assessment will be made on Sunday 10 January 2010 and if the advice above changes, this information will be posted on this website www.sellafieldsites.com
