By royal appointment

Theatr Clwyd Cymru played host to a royal visit when His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall were touring the area.

One of the objects of the visit was to celebrate the work of Arts and Business Cymru in bringing together the business and arts worlds. Phil Malem was one of 10 key local Business representatives to be presented to the royal couple and to be formally thanked for our support of the Arts and Business Cyrmu program by receiving a certificate from Kate Adie.

As part of this program British Nuclear Group Capenhurst has been working with Theatr Clwyd for over 10 years supporting youth workshops. These workshops have given young people from the area and a range of backgrounds the opportunity to work with professional directors and actors to produce their own productions. These productions have often tackled difficult issues such as bullying and this year’s play focused on a series of sketches by leading writers like Harold Pinter.

Over 200 children and young people between the ages of six and 18 attend the weekly workshops which help to develop their skills, self esteem and increase their social awareness.
