SPRS ? final concrete pour completed
On Tuesday 30 October a significant milestone was achieved on the Sellafield Product and Residue Store (SPRS) project with the final section of the concrete roof being poured.
This represents the culmination of over two years hard work on the site by Sellafield Ltd, their main contractor Carillon and their civil contractor Edmund Nuttall.
The installation of mechanical and electrical equipment is underway and the commissioning of the process equipment has been ongoing off-site since April. Tom Gilroy, Sellafield Ltd’s SPRS Project Manager stated:
“Although we have had a few difficulties with the project, resulting in a slow start, we are now rapidly gaining momentum. We are hopeful that the extensive commissioning work being carried out off-site will prove beneficial at a stage of the project where in the past we have had challenges.
“A big thank you goes to everyone involved.”
