Audit success
An audit by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance gave one of Sellafield’s major construction projects a boost last week when it concluded that: “The project was seen to be very well managed and is regarded as an example of industry best practice."
The audit of the third Encapsulated Product Store evaluated all aspects of the project implementation arrangements including safety case documentation, contractor selection and records management, to ensure that all of the systems meet the requirements of the international standards.
Essential to the future waste processing operations of the site, excellent progress has already been made on the project with the completion of preparatory ground works. Laing O’Rourke is scheduled to start the first phase of the main construction works early in the New Year.
Speaking after the audit Sellafield Ltds\' Anthony Robertson said: “Obviously we were delighted to receive such high commendation within the audit report.
“It has given the whole project team, who have worked incredibly hard to develop all of these systems, even greater confidence as we move forwards into the execution phase.”
