Ex-employees visit Capenhurst during a recent open day
‘Great to be back on site’ was the overall view from ex-employees who recently called in at Capenhurst during the open days held recently.
Two of three open days being held at the site have taken place for ex-employees who have left after 2000. The visits started at the EA Technology centre where display boards, Safety 1st stands and a series of old/new photographs provided visitors with up to date information on the site and their ex-colleagues.
There were also presentations on site progress plus a chance to view the time lapse dvd of the enrichment plant decommissioning. Guests were also given a tour of site to view decommissioning progress at first hand.
To finish off everyone had refreshments back at the centre and caught up with old friends before they left with some souvenirs and the chance to win one of two competitions.
One of the ex-employees on the day said: “It was great to be back on site and see the amount of progress, which is quite stunning. I am proud to have been a part of it all too, in particular the old wet Decontam. It was good to be involved from commissioning to running the plant, and then decommissioning.”
