Modules in place ahead of schedule
After 40,000 hours worked and three weeks ahead of schedule, the final storage module has been installed in the Sellafield Product Residue Store.
This key milestone brings the total number of modules in place to 128, each weighing approximately 11.5 tonnes.
These will provide storage for cans of product and residues from Magnox, Thorp and the Sellafield MOX plant.
Jordan Nuclear Ltd is the contractor responsible for the manufacture of the modules including the installation of the temporary steelwork and four overhead cranes required to carry out the works.
Sellafield Ltd's team have worked diligently alongside Jordan's personnel in ensuring this critical phase has been executed safely and to the exacting quality standards required for the project.
