SPRS

It was congratulations all round when the Sellafield Product Residues Store (SPRS) project team, recently received notification that the project had been nominated as one of the finalists in the prestigious Safety & Health Practitioners, Institute of Occupational Safety & Health Awards 2009.

The project has been nominated in the ‘Best Health and Safety Achievement in Construction’ category for the work involving the highly successful ‘Target Zero’ scheme.

The IOSH annual awards are highly regarded by health and safety practitioners and the award ceremony is viewed as one of the highlights of the health and safety calendar.

Tom Gilroy, SPRS project manager, stated: “ Being selected as a finalist for this prestigious award is in itself recognition for all of the excellent work done by the project team and their contractors in achieving over two years on a major construction site without a lost time injury.”

The awards ceremony will take place at the London Hilton on 21 October and it is expected that a number of the project team will represent Sellafield Ltd at the event and will be hoping to return to Sellafield with the Best Health and Safety Achievement in Construction Award.

A report on the award ceremony and how the project was judged will follow later in the year.
