Capenhurst ladies promote working in the nuclear industry

At the end of January four ladies from the Capenhurst team took time out to chat to over 100 female students at the Manchester Creative and Media Academy for girls, about the opportunities for females working in the nuclear industry.

The team, which consisted of Amy Bird, Steph Hillbeck, Charlotte Wells and Natalie Bennett, attended the Challenging Stereotypes and Widening Horizons event, which is designed to promote the opportunities for females working linked to manufacturing, technology, engineering and science. The team delivered a 20 minute presentation to a group of students with the aim of raising their aspirations and achievements.
Overall, the team commented that ‘the event was an excellent success’. Amy added: “It was great to see Natalie and Charlotte take pride in promoting the industry and utilising their newly found presentation skills."

Natalie, who is currently on rotation in HR, said: “It worked really well between us. Unlike Steph and Amy, Charlotte and I did not go to University but we could still show how we have joined this industry through an apprenticeship scheme.”

Various industries were represented at the event which has now been running for 10 years and the organisers look forward to having the nuclear industry represented in future events.
