Sellafield Ltd’s Glen is named student of the year

Sellafield Ltd’s Glen Caldock has just been named as the National Skills Academy, Nuclear Foundation Degree Student of the Year 2010.

Glen, 26, who is a technical specialist in the High Level Waste Plants (HLWPs), won the prestigious award which is designed to recognise and celebrate exceptional foundation degree students who are employed (or sponsored by employers) in the nuclear sector.

“I am delighted to win this award and glad to have recognition of the hard work I have put in over the past three years” said Glen.

“It has been a challenging but very rewarding time and I look forward to many more such opportunities in the future. I would like to thank the tutors at GEN II Engineering, in particular Dr Brendan Grehan and also for the support from Clare Booth and Debbie Keighley.”

Head of the Technical operating unit for HLWPs, Steve Walker commended Glen on his award: “Congratulations and well done; this shows real commitment and determination, and is a credit to you.

“I am also pleased for Clare and Andrew who have both been very supportive throughout your degree. This is an excellent foundation on which to build your future career at Sellafield.”

Glen will collect his prize at an awards evening on 20 March 2011, held in Manchester.
