Sellafield Ltd ‘Concrete Doctor’ awarded Fellowship
Sellafield Ltd’s Neil Tait, construction materials technical manager, A.K.A the company’s very own ‘concrete doctor’ has been named a Fellow of the UK’s Institute of Concrete Technology.
Commenting on the long road he has taken in achieving Fellowship status Neil said: “Having passed the Advanced Concrete Technology course at Nottingham University (which is the highest qualification you can get in the fields of concrete technology and internationally recognized a little over 10 years ago), I automatically became a corporate member of the Institute. After a minimum of 10 years as a corporate member you are able to apply for Fellow grade status”.
Earlier this year Neil made a decision to apply to become a Fellow and submitted his dissertation, summarising the type of work he had been involved in on the site over the last 10 years.
Neil will formally be presented with his fellowship at a convention being held by the Concrete Society in March of next year.
He added: “Professionally becoming a fellow is the highest, most prestigious position you can get within the field of cement and concrete technology. I’m in my fifties now and it’s therefore quite nice to be given some recognition not only for my personal work but also for the work that Sellafield Ltd does.”
