Cystic Fibrosis Trust say a big thank you

Sellafield Ltd employees at our Risley site voted for Cystic Fibrosis as their charity of the year for 2010 and are about to hand over a cheque for £14,279.67.

The money raised was the culmination of various fundraising efforts, helped by individuals based in Hinton House during 2010.

Andrew Bennett from Risley, was one of the people to nominate the charity and has helped to organise numerous events including a golf day, sponsored bike ride from Sellafield to Risley and a wine tasting evening. Andrew who works for EPS3 said: “It is a fantastic total and all concerned should be proud of the achievement. Particular thanks go to Brendan Bolton and Pauline Deans who both worked tirelessly. Cystic Fibrosis is not a well known condition so the opportunity to be the Risley Charity of the Year has helped to raise awareness of what having Cystic Fibrosis means.”

From the sale of books, through to cake sales, It’s a knockout event and vending machine change collection boxes, Risley staff managed to raise a staggering £14,000 – which included £2010 in match funding from Sellafield Ltd.

Alison Whittaker-Stewart, Regional Fundraising Manager for Cystic Fibrosis said “On behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, I am really thrilled that the employees at Risley chose us as their Charity of the Year 2010. It has been a real pleasure to work with everyone and I am truly delighted how all the staff have been so supportive and have participated in the numerous ‘fun’ raising events. Andrew and Pauline have been instrumental in promoting individual challenges and team activities. Thank you so much and please be assured that this amazing amount of money will make a fantastic difference to the lives of people living with CF.”

Everyone in Hinton House who contributed to this massive total deserves a big pat on the back. Well done
