Will Watson receives 'Registered Project Professional' accolade
`Registered Project Professional’ – this is the accolade recently received by Will Watson, Sellafield Ltd’s Vitrified Residues Returns Programme Manager, making him one of the first ever people in the UK to be awarded this prestigious title.
The title is awarded by the Association for Project Managers (APM) as the “standard for extraordinary project professionals” to Project Managers who can demonstrate the capabilities of a responsible leader and who have the experience to Manage and direct complex projects using appropriate tools, processes and techniques.
Will demonstrated the required capability from his experience of managing projects both in the UK and overseas.
Speaking of his achievement Will commented – “The company now has a career path for project professionals accredited by the APM. Having professionals registered by the APM will help to demonstrate Sellafield Ltd’s desire to become a world leader in project and programme delivery.”
Will also earlier this year became a Certified Project Manager with the APM, which requires the undertaking of a complex process including an examination of previous experience and an interview with senior members of the APM to ensure candidates have proven knowledge and experience in over 29 core competencies. He received this recognition based on his current and previous role at Sellafield Ltd in programme and project delivery management.
Will is able to use his experience of projects and programme management in his current role of Vitrified Residues Returns Programme Manager, which encompasses a complex, international programme of activities and projects, to ensure the returns programme is delivered to customers as required. Most importantly, his experience of delivery of projects within the UK along with his experience prior to joining Sellafield Ltd in 1999 gives him the relevant credentials to ensure safe delivery of the Vitrified Residues Returns programme and to become a recognised professional in his field.
