Top dog Jet listening to a pupil reading

Multiple nominations for a prestigious top dog award have been made for Jet, a whippet owned by Sellafield Ltd worker, Bryan Porter.

Jet is one of six worthy finalists nominated for the HiLife Pets as Therapy (P.A.T.) Dog of the Year 2011/12. The winner will be announced in the main arena during Crufts at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham

In the nomination it states that Jet has a positive input on children’s education and their social and emotional skills which they will continue to use throughout their life and that you can see their reading improving each week as Jet lies next to them listening.

Bryan, a welder in the Engineering workshops said: “I have been involved with the charity for over four years. I work with Jet and my other whippet, Bracken. I find this work very rewarding Jet is a lovely, calm dog who brings a lot of pleasure to all the people he visits.”
