50 years for charity
Decommissioning Project Engineer Neil Carruthers is celebrating his half century by setting himself a target to raise £50,000 for UK charity Cancer Research.
Neil’s day job involves decommissioning a redundant purification plant, however this well known figure is a keen sportsman and plans to celebrate his 30 years rugby career with a whole range of fund raising events.
Neil said: “This year I'm celebrating my 50th Birthday in February. Throughout this year I've set myself a target of raising £50,000, for Cancer research, £1000 for each of my years.
“I have a web site www.neilcarruthers.com which explains more about what I'm doing throughout the year. I’ll be hosting an event every month to try and reach my target of £50,000.
“I’m looking for donations, auction prizes, businesses to sponsor match balls etc....any help no matter how big or small is welcomed.”
Neil works in Decommissioning and has been part of Sellafield Ltd, BNG and BNFL since 2001, but worked on site with contractors since 1980. He is therefore calling on his friends and colleagues old and new to support his fund raising challenge.
