Security Requirements
Sellafield Ltd must comply with the Government’s protective security procedures and therefore all Sellafield Ltd employees and other personnel who require regular access to site and who are to be issued with a site pass, are subject to an Industry assurance check and where their role requires it, a level of National Security Vetting.
The Industry assurance check is designed to provide a level of assurance, as to the trustworthiness and integrity of individuals employed within the civil nuclear industry.
The minimum level of check required to work for Sellafield Ltd is currently the Enhanced Baseline Standard (EBS).
As an applicant, you will be required to provide the following information in order to allow this check to be successfully completed. (NB: All documentation must be original):
- Personal details, including full name, date of birth, place of birth, current address, nationality (and where applicable dual or former nationality), National Insurance number. NB: Where applicable, you may also be required to provide details of your immigration status.
- A minimum of three approved forms of identity, one of which must be photographic and preferably a full British or European Economic Area (EEA) passport, which will be used to verify the personal details provided (including full name, signature, full permanent address and date of birth). You may be required to provide additional forms of identification if the details on your documents do not match your current personal details (for example, if you have recently changed your name).
- Confirmation of employment history (including any periods of unemployment) during the last three years. NB: All previous employers will be required to complete an employment history check and the information provided will be independently verified by a member of Sellafield Ltd HR / Security Department.
- Details of two personal references who will be required to complete a personal reference check; the information provided will be independently verified by a member of Sellafield Ltd HR / Security Department.
- Additionally, any applicant who has spent a significant period (6 months or more in the past 3 years) of time abroad, must provide a reasonable account of their activities during this period; this is in addition to obtaining a Police Certificate from the country (or countries) in which they were resident.
- All non EEA nationals will also be required to provide suitable evidence of their right to work in the UK; the Home Office / Immigration Service letter will not be accepted in isolation. (The national passport should carry the appropriate stamp). Where non EEA nationals are not subject to the right to work procedures but are subject only to the UK Visa requirements, suitable evidence must be provided.
All applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Conviction Declaration.
NB: The successful completion of the Enhanced Baseline Standard is a mandatory requirement for employment with Sellafield Ltd.
If the role in which you are employed requires a level of National Security Vetting, you will be required to complete further, more detailed paperwork.
