Following a highly successful year at Sellafield Ltd the online Supply Chain Innovation and Suggestion Scheme has provided an ideal platform for companies and academia to bring forward innovative ideas, technologies and improved methods of operation.
The working partnerships that have evolved have led to close collaborative working in which Sellafield Ltd and its partners have collectively shared the financial benefits of improved business performance.
A total of thirty six proposals were received from supply chain companies and academia which were assessed by an innovation panel of industry experts with seed corn funding being allocated toward eight of the proposals.
A large percentage of the remaining proposals were carried forward by the Sellafield Ltd business improvements and engineering directorates in order to ensure that alternative ideas, strategies and technologies were being assessed against the established standard practices.
This measured challenge looks to optimise the way in which Sellafield Ltd projects are delivered by reducing overall cost, driving efficiencies and improving the quality and safety standards.
